The company has officially said that dashboard layout and appearance will be customizable by OEM’s. Unquestionably of utmost importance to the automakers, distinct car brands will also have unique styles. In one of the images that Apple recently shared of an Aston Martin, the instrumental panel features visuals that resemble the brand’s most recent gauges. In another, Porsche scenes include distinctly Apple fonts and designs set against a vintage Porsche houndstooth backdrop.

The next version of CarPlay will control more than just what you see. CarPlay will control essential vehicle systems like tire pressure monitoring as well as comprehensive driver-assist features and drive modes. Of course, the system will also control functions unique to EVs, such as charge status and battery monitoring.

It appears that with this generation of Apple’s innovation, a fundamental transition will occur in which CarPlay becomes not just an entertainment interface, but the vehicle’s complete driver-facing information network. Manufacturers will now be integrating their vehicle systems into CarPlay instead of Apple CarPlay into their cars going forward.

Later in 2024, Aston Martin and Porsche are anticipated to be the first to introduce the new technology in automobiles. However, it appears likely that you will soon be driving a vehicle that supports CarPlay, even if you are in the majority of whom those brands are jokingly out of reach.
